Artist Statement

Art is a language of resilience, transformation, and empowerment. As a multidisciplinary artist, my work is deeply influenced by my lived experience as a traumatic brain injury survivor, disability advocate, and storyteller. I create to amplify underrepresented voices, challenge perceptions, and explore the intersection of identity, healing, and sustainability.

Through visual art, writing, and content creation, I seek to foster connection and dialogue, using my platform to highlight the beauty and complexity of life after trauma. My art is not only an expression of personal narrative but also a call to action—inviting viewers to reimagine inclusivity, accessibility, and the power of human adaptability.

One of my primary mediums is creating African-mask inspired paintings on secondhand mirrors, inviting viewers to engage with the work in a way that’s both reflective and introspective. This medium challenges the viewer to explore the contrasts between themselves and the piece, while also considering how they are inherently part of it—literally seeing themselves within the art. The use of reclaimed mirrors adds layers of sustainability, symbolism, and meaning, echoing themes of transformation and reclamation that are central to my practice.

Sustainability is a core pillar of my practice, both in the materials I use and in the message I convey. Whether repurposing objects, blending digital and traditional mediums, or crafting immersive and engaging community experiences and events, my work is rooted in the belief that creativity can drive meaningful change.

Ultimately, my art is an extension of my advocacy—a bridge between lived experience and collective awareness. It is my hope that each piece serves as both a reflection and a catalyst, inspiring others to embrace their own resilience and engage with the world in a more mindful, compassionate way.
