"In Our Own Words": Virtual Brain Injury Survivor Poetry Event II

Coming April 2025, Resilient Roots will be hosting our second virtual poetry event featuring the works of brain injury survivors and caregivers from all walks of life. “In Our Own Words” brings the voices of the brain injury community to the forefront as we use poetry to express our experiences, bringing advocacy, awareness and visibility to the world at large. This event is open to anyone who would like to attend.

If you identify as an individual having experienced a brain injury of any kind (traumatic brain injury, stroke, prior drug use, domestic violence, etc.-this is a judgment-free zone!) or are a care partner to an individual living with a brain injury, please reach out to me (Cazoshay Marie) at resilientrootspwbi@gmail.com for more details and to get on the program to share. You can also email me there to get on the mailing list for updates about this fantastic event. Join us for an afternoon of expression and fellowship!

October Resilient Roots Meeting-MOVIE NIGHT!

Image from Directorsnotes.com

Grab your popcorn as we come together to watch the short documentary film, “Jelly Brain.” The viewing will be followed by a discussion.

Quote from Kieran Nolan, director and son of the movie subject:

“The emotional maelstrom of first thinking my Mom was going to die, then watching the person who had brought me into this world and raised me become a different person was the most terrifying thing that had happened to me. So that got me thinking, could I tell my Mum’s deeply personal story whilst infusing a layer of emotive true life horror? That is how Jelly Brain was born." Full Interview

Join us as we come together to watch and discuss this relatable and informational film.*Note, this is not a scary or graphic movie
